100 kms from Hyderabad, the quite town of Medak is renowned for its beautiful Cathedral. Built in 1014, the Cathedral is characterized by its Gothic style of architecture and gloriously colored stained glass windows. The Cathedral is 60.96 metres high and accommodates 5,000 people at a time. The tower over the entrance is 53.34 metres.

Besides the above, the KBR National Park, the Mrugavani National Park (25kms), Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park (15 Km), Himayat Sagar (22 km), Yalagirigutta (69 km), Kolanupak (80 km) and Bidar (136 km) are the other places worth visiting.

Amaravati is small town situated on the banks of river Krishna near Guntur. Known earlier as Dhanyakatakam and "Deepaladinne", it was the former capital of the Satavahanas and an important Buddhist center. The country’s largest stupa- the Mahachaitya Stupa, built during the 2nd century BC, can be found here. 29 m high with a width of 49 m, a 14 ft railing surrounds the stupa. The path encircling it is 15 ft wide. Engraved on the cornice are tales from Buddha's life. The British archaeologist Colonel Colin Mackenzie discovered it in 1797. The temple of Amareswara is also located here. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it houses a massive Lingam.

The town of Amaravati along with Nagarjunakonda and Dharankota form the Golden Triangle of Buddhism in Andhra Pradesh.
